Val and Don’s destination beach engagement session on the Eastern shore of Delaware, to Bethany Beach, was so much fun! These photos are a showcase for Val and Don’s love story. I’m so excited to be able to share not only the photos, but the beginning to their happily-ever-after!
The beginning of Val and Don’s relationship was around the shutdown of the pandemic. Both worked remotely, so they decided to work through that summer at Don’s parents’ beach house in Bethany Beach. Not many people were traveling during that time, so they didn’t have much competition at the local restaurants and bars!
While they frequented the restaurants, they got to know one of the local musicians, Bob Elliot. The couple would follow where he was playing each weekend and watch him perform, just reveling in the music, and their sweet time together!
Fast forward to last Christmas, the couple were once again, down at Bethany Beach participating in a scavenger hunt. During the hunt, Val saw Bob Elliot with his guitar down on the beach, and he started playing one of her and Don’s favorite songs! When she heard Bob playing that song, she turned around and to her delight, Don was down on one knee!
They spent so much of their time during the pandemic down on that beach. Bethany Beach, along with Bob playing his guitar, are cherished pieces of their relationship. So for Don to propose to Val while Bob played their sweet song for them, was so romantic and dreamy! And even sweeter still, Bob Elliot is planning to play at the cocktail hour for their wedding!
After hearing their love story, it was no surprise when Val asked me to travel east for their beach engagement session. Val and Don were such a joy to work with! They both have such beautiful spirits. I could feel the energy and love radiating off of them during the session and it was wonderful!
We ended the engagement session on Don’s dad’s boat, driving out into the water to find a secluded beach spot. They spent a lot of time out on the boat while visiting the beach house, so this was yet another representation of their timeless love story! It was so fun to incorporate these special parts of their relationship into the photos! I always tell my couples to pick an engagement session location that is special to them or their relationship, and Val and Don hit the money on the head with that one! And, of course, Val and Don’s wedding will also take place on the beach, but just a little way down the shore at the beautiful Lighthouse Sound Golf Club in Maryland! I’m so excited to capture the next part of their love story!
Val and Don, your photos were so beautiful, and it’s because both of you are as well! I’m so happy to have done your engagement photography, it was so fun! I wish you all the happiness in the world!
